Rooted in San Marcos
Lauren grew up in Sweetwater, Texas, before heading to Texas Tech University where she earned a degree in Psychology with a minor in Spanish. She then earned her Doctor of Optometry from the Southern College of Optometry in Memphis, Tennessee in 2008.
After graduating, Lauren completed rotations at the Naval Base in Corpus Christi and Coastal Vision Center in Fernandina Beach, FL before making her way to the Austin area. She began working at the San Marcos clinic in 2009 — and never left. Over the years, she became a trusted fixture in the community, building lasting relationships with patients and families across the region.
When Dr. Adam Pratt retired in early 2025, it was a natural next step for Lauren to take the reins. Blanco River Eyecare celebrated its grand opening under new ownership in April 2025, carrying forward a tradition of personalized, compassionate eye care. Se habla español.
Lauren's husband, Jerad Meinke, OD, practices optometry at Meinke Family Eyecare — making this a true family of eye care professionals serving San Marcos and the surrounding communities.
